Bigband Gronau in the bandstand

Bigband Gronau is a very special ensemble.

It consists of both German and Dutch musicians. In 1982, several musicians from both sides of the border found each other and laid the foundation for a new cultural collaboration in the border region. One of the key principles was to promote mutual friendship by making music together.

While in its early years the band played marching and film music, it changed direction more than ten years ago and now focuses on jazz.

For this evening, they perform classic swing pieces by Thomas Waller, Harry Brooks, Michael Williams, Jerry Nowak, Michael Sweeny, and Sammy Nestico. Rock and roll and blues are also part of the repertoire—always performed in true big band style. The band is conducted by Bennie Waanders.
